The reviews say it plainly: people walk into Elks Lodge #817 and leave smiling. That's not an accident. The lodge at 401 Church Hill Avenue has built a reputation across Salisbury as a genuinely safe, welcoming place where regulars greet newcomers like they've been coming for years, because many of them have.

On any given weekend you might find a live band setting up on the stage, a fundraiser for a local family, or a packed room of members unwinding after a long week on the Eastern Shore. The space is clean, well-maintained, and run by a staff that actually cares. When bands play here for the first time, they come back. That says everything.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has stood for charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity since 1868, and Lodge #817 carries that mission forward right here in Wicomico County. Membership opens the door to a national network of over 800,000 Elks while keeping you rooted in the community you already call home.

What We Offer

Lodge #817 offers members and their guests a full-service bar, a comfortable lounge, and a banquet-capable event space that has hosted everything from birthday celebrations to live music nights to charitable fundraisers. The hall is available for private events, and the staff brings the same attentive, friendly energy whether it's a Tuesday evening happy hour or a Saturday night with a full band.

Beyond the social amenities, membership in the BPOE connects you to Elks-sponsored scholarships, youth programs, veteran support initiatives, and community service projects that put real resources into the Salisbury, MD area. The lodge also participates in state and national Elks programs, meaning your dues do far more than keep the lights on. They fund the kind of neighbor-helping-neighbor work that Salisbury has counted on for generations.

A Proud Heritage

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
